As you know by now, the great Robin Williams died at his home yesterday, Aug. 11.  He was so many things to so many people. Funny, first and foremost, he was known to me as the alien Mork on the later years of "Happy Days".  That, of course, spun off into the sitcom "Mork and Mindy".  Those shows solidified Robin in my eyes as a real comedic star, with excellent timing and the ability to ad lib and make something happen when it called for it.  Robin admitted to cocaine use early in his career, which is perhaps what made his standup comedy routines feel like it could teeter out of control at any moment, but damn, it was funny and unpredictable...traits of the finest in the world of comedy.  Of course, Robin went on to make a slew of great movies, like "Popeye" (a guilty pleasure for me), "Mrs.Doubtfire", "Good Will Hunting", Dead Poets Society", "Good Morning Vietnam", "Aladdin", "The Birdcage",  the "Night At The Museum" movies, and many more that can be found here.

Robin Williams worked long and hard to become a great actor, something that many great comics seem to achieve.  A couple of my favorite Robin Williams roles were in movies where he wasn't funny, and played a despicable character, namely "One Hour Photo" and "Insomniac".  Neither is what would be considered a great movie, but Robin's performance in both is convincing, and at times chilling.  Check out the trailers for both movies below.

R.I.P. to a guy who brought a world of entertainment to so many.  Robin still has three movies due out that are currently in post-production.  More info on those can be found here.
