Fourty-three year old convicted sex offender, Darren Deon Vann is in police custody in connection with the murder of seven women in Indiana.

Recently, the body of 19-year-old Afrikka Hardy, was found strangled at a Motel 6 in Northern Indiana. The body of Anith Jones, 35 of Merrillville, who had been missing since October 8, was found over the weekend.
According to detectives, Vann ordered a prostitute through backpage.com. The facilitator who arranged the meeting between Vann and Hardy received suspicious texts and sent someone to check on Hardy, where she was found dead. Detectives then searched a home and vehicle in Gary, Indiana. From there, Vann was taken into custody. He confessed to three more murders that day and three more the next - leading detectives to the bodies.

[Vann] "continues to provide information of possible locations, not just in Gary but in other parts of northwest Indiana," Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson told CNN.

"It's quite possible that there may be more victims," the mayor said. Police have stated that his reign of murders may go back twenty years.

Many are surprised by his cooperation. When asked he stated, "It was just something I wanted to do. That's all I can say."

According to CNN,
Hardy and three other women have been identified. Doughty and the Lake County Coroner's Office identified two of the women as Teaira Batey, 28, and Christine Williams, 36. Earlier Monday, Chelsea Whittington, a spokeswoman for Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson, identified the other two as Hardy and Anith Jones, 35, of Merrillville, who had been missing since October 8.
