Indiana Man Kills Leopard Roaming His Property Just Outside of Louisville

According to conservation officers, an Indiana man who was surprised to find a spotted leopard roaming his property earlier last week, shot and killed the wild beast.

Authorities say that a resident of Charleston, Indiana, which is located just about 15 miles northeast of Louisville, shot first and asked questions later last Thursday evening later after seeing a spotted leopard walking around on his property. Conservation Officer Jim Hash says that the animal was dead when they arrived on the scene.

Hash believes that the leopard was someone’s pet because it was healthy and leopards are not indigenous to North America.

In Indiana, a permit is required in order to have a leopard as a pet.
