Conference play in the SIAC opens up with a game featuring two of the conference's most dynamic playmakers.

Before the season began, Castle's offensive coordinator challenged senior running back Christian Peach to reach 2,000 yards on the ground. If he continues at the pace he set in week two during the Knights 55-34 win against New Albany, he'll hit it by week six. The talented back ran for 386 yards on 38 carries. Let me say that again so it sinks in — 386 yards on 38 carries. Five of those carries found their way into the end zone. If Peach was able to walk on Saturday, it was nothing short of a miracle.

The Knights will head to Evansville's west side on Friday night to take on the Reitz Panthers who come in 2-0 on the season after an opening week win over Henderson County, and a victory over Paducah-Tilghman last week. The Panthers boast their own talented player in senior Malik Higgins who hauled in 10 receptions for 202 yards including touchdown passes of 40, 13, and 28 yards from junior QB Eric Deig.

There's no doubt both defenses will have their hands full as they try and contain both players under the lights of the Reitz Bowl Friday night. For the Panthers, the key will be keeping Peach in check and forcing quarterback Dane Keller to try and beat them with his arm. On the flip side, the Knights must be aware of Higgins location at all times as the Panther's coaching staff likes to move him around the field. Take away Higgins and the chances of the Knights leaving the Bowl with a win increases greatly.

It will be a great game to open up the conference schedule not only for the teams involved by fans as well. Catch every snap live as it happens on ESPN Evansville 105.3, and online at ESPNEvansville.com with play-by-play from Jimmie Ford and myself beginning at 6:30, and kick off at 7:00.
