This Saturday night the UFC will host one of their biggest shows of the year and, dare I say, maybe one of the biggest ever. The main event at UFC 148 features one of the most heated rivalries the UFC has ever seen. But before that happens, we get to see the third and final fight between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin.

There is no doubt that the main attraction at UFC 148 will be Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva defending his belt against his arch nemesis, and hated enemy Chael Sonnen. But I'm not here to talk about that fight. BTW, I'll have a full UFC 148 preview for you at some point tomorrow, or maybe on Saturday.

I want to talk a little bit about the official or unofficial co-main event of the evening...Ortiz vs. Griffin III.

Forrest Griffin has always held a special place in my memory bank. When I first got into MMA and really started watching and learning, it was with the very first season of The Ultimate Fighter. Forrest was one of the fighters on that first season, and eventually won that season in an epic battle against Stephan Bonnar. It ended up as one of the most important fights EVER in the UFC (you can see it below if you want). He has always been a classy guy that doesn't take himself too seriously. He just seems like a guy that you would want to hang out with. Maybe that's why I like to root for him.

On Saturday, he and Ortiz will fight each other for the third time, to see who the series winner will be. The previous two fights were super close, both ending in a split-decision, both men getting one win. Recently former UFC welterweight champ Matt Serra spent some time with Forrest as he prepares for this fight. It's a pretty interesting look at the life of a professional fighter.
