Foo Fighters are one of the biggest rock acts of the last 20-plus years, having secured platinum certification by the RIAA for each of their first seven albums. Surprisingly, only one record, 2011's Wasting Light, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200... until now.

The band's latest album, Concrete and Gold, debuted at the top spot on chart as reported by BillboardConcrete and Gold was released on Sept. 15 through RCA / Roswell and as of Sept. 21, the release saw 127,000 equivalent albums shifted (including digital streams), 120,000 of which were traditional album sales, which also made Concrete and Gold the highest selling album of the week.

The feat marks the eighth consecutive time a new Foos studio album has debuted inside the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart with the band's self-titled first album being the only one to land on the outside, peaking at No. 23. Prior to the release of Concrete and Gold, the Foo Fighters initially surprised fans with the unexpected release of the song "Run," following it up by performing a number of new offerings live in addition to release select tracks like "The Line" and "The Sky Is a Neighborhood" as new singles.

Foo Fighters have been nominated for Hard Rock Song of the Year in the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards for "Run."
