Hold onto your hats, ladies and gentlemen, because we’ve got some shocking news to scramble all your preconceptions of life as we know it. Ready? Billy Corgan, frontman of the Smashing Pumpkins, spoke negatively about another band during an interview! Don’t believe us? We’ve got the quotes to prove it.
Chris Jericho boasts a career that only he, and he alone, has been able to accomplish. Along with an incredibly decorated tenure with WWE, a job that comes with a notoriously grueling schedule, Jericho serves as the vocalist for hard rock band Fozzy. Balancing two of the most demanding jobs on the planet, on top of being a father, is a mixture that would quickly burn out the average person, but Jericho takes on the challenge full-force while keeping his fans strongly in tact.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking to make fat stacks of cash, becoming a professional musician is far from your best bet. Most bands are lucky to break even when it comes to their sonic endeavors, but there are a few prominent rock and metal musicians out there that have been able to use $100 bills as wallpaper thanks to their illustrious careers.
Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil recently took a break from singing with the band and managing his Las Vegas strip club in order to apparently yell at some parking attendants last week. Video of the incident shows Neil flipping out at the garage employees of Planet Hollywood in Vegas after they refused to bring the singer’s Rolls-Royce around, even though Neil didn’t have a ticket to prove the car was his.
It seems like whenever a Presidential race begins, some politician rubs a musician the wrong way by using their music as a campaign theme. In 1984, Bruce Springsteen went after Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan for using ‘Born in the USA,’ Foo Fighters barred John McCain from playing ‘My Hero’ during his campaign, and now, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider had denounced the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ by Republican Vice Presidential hopeful Paul Ryan.
Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor recently opened up in an interview about continuing the band without beloved bassist and creative mastermind Paul Gray. In the interview, Taylor described the writing of Slipknot’s upcoming album as a healing process, although it has been admittedly difficult to record and perform without the presence of Gray.
The fact that the original members of Black Sabbath weren’t able to undertake a full-on world tour in 2012 was devastating to Sabbath fans. Guitarist Tony Iommi‘s cancer diagnosis stuck a knife into the heart of Sabbath fans, and reduced Sabbath to playing only three live shows this year, with their one U.S. date happening on Aug. 3 at Lollapalooza. Add to that drummer Bill Ward ‘s contract dispute, which resulted in his departure from the band, and the reunion that was announced on Nov. 11, 2011, didn’t pan out as originally planned.
Four years since Metallica released ‘Death Magnetic,’ the band have announced that they will begin to ‘concentrate on new music’ for their next album beginning in September. Metallica will once again team with legendary producer Rick Rubin to craft the band’s 10th album.
Tool are currently in the process of writing one of hard rock’s most anticipated albums. With the band’s last album, ’10,000 Days,’ having been released in 2006, Tool fans have been mentally pacing in circles, awaiting a taste of new materials from their psychedelic heroes. Luckily, drummer Danny Carey has offered an update on where Tool are in their writing process.
