A Haunted Tennessee Mansion

Located in Columbia, Tennessee is a historic mansion built in the mid-1800s (circa 1837).  The historic Elm Springs Mansion was built as a gift by two brothers for their sister.  They named the property Elm Springs due to all of the Elm trees.   During the civil war and neglect in the early 1900s, this location was almost lost to history, but it has since been restored and is now a property you can tour, and houses the National Confederate Museum. You can read more about Elm Springs' history, here.

With a history like this, and a place that was almost lost to time, it makes you wonder, are there some residents that never truly left this mansion?  You can find out with a ghost hunt set up by Tennesse ghost hunting group Paranormal Inc.

A Historic Tennessee School

The Athenaeum is also located in Columbia, Tennessee. It was built almost two centuries ago in 1837.  This building served as a private girls' school until the early 1900s.  Unfortunately, the great depression caused the school to shut its doors for good.  This was one of the first girls' schools to not be affiliated with any religion, and it's said that girls at this school would learn everything that boys would learn at their schools. At this school, girls would learn everything from how to play instruments, to advanced math, and foreign languages.  You can learn more about this historic location, here.
