It's officially here, it's 4th of July week, and that means we're going to be hearing more fireworks shooting off than usual.  Did you know in the city of Evansville it's actually only legal to shoot off fireworks on certain dates and not year-round?  It's true!

Many Loud Booms

It seems like every year we hear the same complaints, people always start shooting off fireworks way before the 4th of July, and continue way past the 4th of July.  June and July are just kind of the months we deal with the loud booms.  However, in Evansville, it is currently illegal (as of today which I'm writing this on June 27th) to shoot off fireworks in the city due to a little friend called municipal code 9.10.020. In Evansville, you can legally start setting off fireworks on June 29th and go through July 9th.  There are also certain times you can set fireworks off too.

Evansville Police Weigh In

Apparently, the Evansville Police Department have been hearing the fireworks as well, as they recently shared a reminder on their Facebook page about fireworks.  In their Facebook post they said:

Nope; not yet! Go to http://www.evansville.in.gov/city/ , find the drop menu under section "How Do I...", choose "Find a Municipal Code", and enter "Code 9.10.020 fireworks" in the search box for specifics--dates and times fireworks are allowed, where they are NOT allowed, what constitutes "Consumer Fireworks" and what does not. Note also violations include a FINE. Be safe, be courteous. Thank you.
