Here's another reason to have a safe and sober ride home planned for this weekend. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this Saturday, May 25 from 10pm - 3am. The exact location has not been revealed but was chosen based on data detailing geographical areas with a high number of hit and run accidents. According to the press release from the Sheriff's Office, "Hit and run crashes are often the result of impaired drivers who try to avoid arrest by fleeing the scene." The purpose of these checkpoints, of course is to reduce impaired driving in an effort to then reduce the number of vehicular accidents involving drugs and alcohol. The local sobriety checkpoint operation are funded by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) utilizing a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The bottom line is don't drive impaired. If you do go out to celebrate this weekend, be sure that you have a plan to get home safely. 103 GBF & Logan's Promise want to make sure that you get home safe with free cab rides home throughout the holiday weekend.
