USI Theater Presents: Next to Normal (A Rock Musical)

Next to Normal is a three time Tony award winning rock musical and the tri-state area is lucky enough to have this amazing musical grace our presence with the help of the University of Southern Indiana Theater program and the New Harmony Theater.

"So my son's a little sh**, my husband's boring
And my daughter, though a genius, is a freak..."

This production of Next to Normal is directed by Eric Altheide. I saw it on Opening Night (this past Friday) and it was AMAZING. (And I'm not just saying that because I helped build the set...) You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll leave wanting to go home and hug your dysfunctional family members. No matter what background or family life you come from you can relate to Next to Normal in some way.

"Cause what doesn't kill me...doesn't kill me..."

You probably know someone like Diana, who's trying to keep her family together the best that she can with her mental illness. Her husband, who's trying to support his wife through everything. Henry is a talented fellow who uses his smarts to make unique and interesting bongs. Yes, bongs. "You're like the MacGuyver of pot." Or maybe you can relate to Natalie, who, despite having her life fall apart before her, wants everything to be absolutely perfect.

"And you're living on a latte and a prayer..."
