The website, U.S. News, recently released a list of the top things to see and do in each state. Each of these tourist attractions is certainly worth adding to your bucket list whenever you travel. When it comes to Indiana, the tourist attraction that they chose as the best in the state is probably the most notable thing that Indiana is known for.

Best Tourist Attraction in Indiana

When you, or someone who isn't a resident of Indiana, gets asked what Indiana is most famous for, you might say the Indianapolis 500. It's the biggest race in motorsports history. That's why U.S. News named the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the number one tourist attraction in Indiana.

Here's what U.S. News had to say about the track:

Lay your eyes on the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway track, home of the Indianapolis 500 auto race and designated a National Historic Landmark. Inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, which is located inside the 2.5-mile oval track, you'll find countless race cars, memorabilia, trophies, photos and more celebrating the sport of auto racing. You can also opt to take a tour on the track itself, stopping at the famous Yard of Bricks and, if you wish, "kissing" it according to tradition. If you want to ride on the track, avoid the month of May when it's in use for the annual Indianapolis 500.

Whether you go to the Indianapolis 500 or you just tour the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it is a must-see at least once in your lifetime. You can check out what the best tourist attractions were in the other states by clicking here. It might give you some ideas for your next vacation.
