As much as I'm dying to see an all-female Ghostbusters reboot...the trailer came out to some mixed reviews. Possibly because it was trying a little too hard...

I was super excited when I found out about the new Ghostbusters trailer. And then I watched it... And then my excitement died a little.

The trailer is filled with so much nostalgia that it almost forgets to tell us the actual plot of the movie.

There are many throw backs to the original movie:

-the library ghost who "might be friendly!" (She's not)

-The Slimer!

-Ecto 1

-the suits!

-the tech!

-the firehouse!

There were even references to the Real Ghostbusters cartoon! (That whole 'Kate McKinnon wearing a wig to scare Kristen Wiig' thing was intentional.)

But I feel like this trailer was just a way to get the people who were mad about the movie being all females to shut up. They just threw all of this nostalgia at them like, "THERE! Look at all the nods to the original!! Are you HAPPY NOW!!??" And while they were doing that they stopped and realized "Oh crap! We forgot to tell them the actual plot! Quick! Explain the plot in 2 seconds! Throw in Chris Hemsworth kicking a door for the ladies! And add a few thousand more ghosts! Okay, aaaaaand done!"

BUT, since you should never judge a book by it's cover, you should also never judge a movie by it's first trailer. That's my motto.

So, while I deem this trailer "ehhh", the movie does look good. But just good. Maybe the next trailer might bump it up to a 'great'.

1984: "We came. We saw. We kicked it's ass!"
2016: "THE POWER OF PATTY COMPELS YOU!!!"
