Smartphones Could Soon Diagnose Illnesses
Since acquiring my first smartphone around 6 months ago, its quickly become something I can't leave home without. Wanna know what movies some obscure actor has been in? I got IMDB. Want to stalk me? I got Foursquare. And soon, these handy devices can assist doctors.
According to a blog on thecheckup.com, scientists at Korea Advanced Institute of Science of Technology believe they can detect bio-molecular matter with a smartphone.
They say a phone's touchscreen can detect electric charges from our bodies, and with the right software they can begin to diagnose abnormalities.
This follows the news where gamers helped scientists. Using a game called Foldit, gamers helped scientists by solve an issue with the proteins that cause the AIDS virus. Scientists have been trying to solve the problem for about a decade, and gamers solved it within months. And who thought you were wasting your time with electrical devices.
