Slayer Manager: Touring Finale ‘Doesn’t Mean the End of the Band’

The end is near for Slayer, at least where touring in concerned. in a new interview with Mass Live, Slayer manager Rick Sales has suggested that while many fans are focused on the final dates at the end of the month, it's not the end of the band.

"This band has always had a lot of integrity," said Sales, alluding to the idea that their intent to play their lengthy farewell tour was a way of going out while they were still on their game.

He added, “There are a couple things that go on. I totally get that they made a decision to stop touring. That doesn't mean the end of the band. It’s just the end of touring. I always thought of it as, 'you go out on top.' They made that decision. They're not milking it. From that standpoint, I get it and they made the right choice.”

Though there are no plans of note to reveal beyond Slayer's final dates, we've seen groups finish up their touring careers yet still maintain their presence with archival material or even new music after some time has passed. The most notable recent instance being Motley Crue's 2019 musical return tied to The Dirt film. But, at present, nothing else has been announced.

Speaking on a personal standpoint, Sales takes some pride over where Slayer are at in 2019. "Not many groups have lasted this long. For me, it's bittersweet, but I'm honored to be involved,” he added.

Slayer's final tour leg will wrap with two nights at the Forum in Los Angeles on Nov. 29 and 30. This comes on the heels of the recent screenings of Slayer's The Repentless Killology, which wrapped up the visual narrative from the band's connected video trilogy from their Repentless album while also showcasing a full concert from the Repentless cycle that also took place at the Forum.
