Sick Puppies is a band that I have enjoyed from day one, every song they have released, but for some reason I still haven’t picked up any of their albums. That’s about to change. Their new album Connect came out this week, and if the first single is any indication of how good it is, I think I need to get it.

Despite the fact that they have been together for over 15 years, you still may not know much about Sick Puppies. So let me briefly enlighten you. They are a power trio from down under (Australia) that has been together since about 1997. During that time they have released four studio albums, in addition to a couple EP’s. In the past few years they started getting some love here in the States (and here at 103GBF) with their 2009 album Tri-Polar. We played four songs from that album and they were all killer songs. And now they are coming strong with the first release from their new album.

"There’s No Going Back" is their newest single, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs. In addition to having a really catchy melody, the song’s message also strikes a chord with me. As the title suggests, the song is about past mistakes and regret…about putting those things behind you and moving forward…making the most out of what your life is now. I think that’s a theme that hits home for a lot of us. I, for one, definitely regret certain decisions I made back in the day…decisions that have forever changed my life. I love this line from the song, “The future I'm living now is not what I'd thought it'd be…The person I was before is nothing like me.”

Check out the video below, which continues with that theme…that you can’t go back and change what happened in the past.

Sick Puppies also happen to have a smokin’ hot bassist named Emma Anzai. She was recently declared one of rock’s supreme goddesses, according to Loudwire.com. You can see the rest of the goddesses here.
