Shakespeare In the Park Is Back With the Merry Wives of Windsor!
The Evansville Shakespeare Players are back and with a new sound system!
While the Evansville Shakespeare Players put on excellent (AND FREE) shows every summer, the one thing they kept having trouble with was sound.
One year their show had to compete with an ice cream truck blasting music.
The next year they had to compete with traffic noise and trains on the lawn of Willard Library.
But those noise problem days are over! Because they have a new sound system they'd LOVE for you to hear!
So come enjoy a FREE performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor on the lawn of Willard Library! (Rain or shine! If it rains, the show will be moved inside Willard!)
Prepare for a jolly fun night as the Evansville Shakespeare Players take you back to the 1950s sitcom, complete with a witty announcer, commercials that harken back to the day, and a pair of zany house Wives that give Lucy and Ethel a run for their money! Appreciated by audiences as one of Shakespeare’s most delightful comedies, loveable rogue John Falstaff looks to add to his riches. Setting his sights on the beautiful wives of two of the most-wealthy men in the town, Falstaff gets more than he bargains for when the Merry Wives see through his scheme and plot his comeuppance. Meanwhile, one of the daughters, sweet Anne Page, fends off many local admirers including a French doctor, a lovesick boy, and the quarterback. Hilarity ensues in this farcical look into a small town beset with petty jealousies, a hilarious Welsh parson, and fairies! Bring blankets and chairs, and maybe a picnic to make an evening certain to be a fun for the WHOLE family!!!
