Why Santa Claus, Indiana Is the Ultimate Christmas Destination

Nestled in Southern Indiana, the town of Santa Claus celebrates Christmas all year long. It’s home to the only post office in the world with Santa’s name, and every December it processes hundreds of thousands of pieces of mail with each one stamped using a unique, collectible holiday postmark you can’t get anywhere else.

A Holiday Tradition Since 1983

Each year’s postmark is one-of-a-kind and created by a local high school art student through an annual contest at Heritage Hills High School. The 2025 Santa Claus Postmark was designed by Aubrey Harpe, whose artwork was selected from student submissions earlier this spring.

Now through December 24, 2025, the Santa Claus Post Office will hand-cancel holiday mail with this year’s design, and it's completely free (USPS postage still required, of course!).

How to Get the 2025 Santa Claus Postmark

Whether you're local or states away, you can still get the special postmark. If you visit in person:

• Bring your cards with postage already applied.
• Leave a space roughly 2” x 4” near the stamp area for the postmark.
• Avoid bulky enclosures so the design stamps cleanly.
• Request the Santa Claus Postmark at the counter.

If you’re mailing from afar, prepare your holiday cards normally (addresses + postage), place them in a sturdy envelope or box, and mail them to:

Be sure to include a note requesting the Santa Claus Postmark, and staff will hand-cancel each card before sending them on their way.
