For Your Little Rocker: Lullaby Renditions of Your Favorite Bands
I have a 4-month old son, and one thing I've learned since becoming a parent is that kid's music, kinda totally sucks. I'm sorry to be such a negative Nancy, but if I have to hear 'The Wheels on the Bus' one more time, I may just explode. Now my son isn't really old enough to get kids music, or those kids shows yet (he just has some flashy toys that play terrible songs over and over), but I've got a niece and a nephew who listened to plenty of those Baby Bum songs on Netflix for me to grow a real disdain for baby music. But then I heard of Rockabye Baby, and it's the perfect in-between of music for babies, but it doesn't suck, ya know?
I was flipping through the vinyl bins at Atmosphere Collectibles here in Evansville, and I found they had an album called Rockabye Baby! Lullabye Renditions of the Beastie Boys. I did a double-take, what?! So I had to look further into this brand, and it turns out they've made a TON of lullaby renditions of all kinds of music. If you're a fan of pop, hip-hop, or rock, they've done a lullaby rendition of it.
Being that I'm a big fan of rock music, I did a dive to see what they had in the rock world and let me tell you, these lullaby makers have been busy. They've got albums of songs from Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Blink-182, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Nirvana, Metallica, and I could keep going but I think you get the point.
On their website, they have a little player of each album, where you can sample the songs, and for being lullabies, they somehow still made them totally rock! This is definitely something that would be the perfect gift for the little rocker in your life!
It's funny because my husband has this trick, whenever our son is super cranky, he plays Meshuggah, and for some reason that will usually settle him down so I think my kid is already becoming a bit of a little rocker, and I'm okay with that!
