I have always been a big fan of 'Ren and Stimpy'...especially back in college...especially after partaking in certain activities. Their creator John Kricfalusi certainly has a unique style of animation. And he was given the chance to bring that unique style to The Simpsons animated series. If you've seen the show, then you know that the "couch scene" during the opening changes from one episode to the next. And in the show's 23 season history, only one other animator has been allowed to do the "couch gag"...and that was graffiti artist Banksy, whose sequence ran last season.
