Maybe I'm not up to date on police officer training, but is there a rule about "tasing" or "macing" things you may not like?

Middle schoolers in Mesquite, Texas were treated to the site of a police officer spraying a baby squirrel with pepper spray. One of the students managed to capture the incident on their cell phone. Back in my day they banned Tamagotchi's, but apparently cell phones are a-okay.

The incident has sparked some outrage since some students are heard pleading with the officer to not spray the animal. However the local police department has defended the officer's actions, saying he thought the animal may have been rabid.

The animal (which was a BABY SQUIRREL and not an Occupy Protester) was treated at animal control and released back in to the wild.
