Owensboro Teacher Creates Ultimate Burger Week Spreadsheet and You Can Get a Copy

Owensboro Burger Week is just around the corner and carnivores in Daviess County and surrounding areas and gearing up to see how many $7 burgers they can eat between Friday, March 3rd and Saturday, March 11th. Yes! The festivities for the third annual event have been expanded from five to nine days and there are a record number of local restaurants participating. That's a lot of meat to eat in nine days.

Maximizing the Owensboro Burger Week is a challenge. With 30+ restaurants and burgers in the mix, you have to decide which burgers you want to try and when you're going to go get 'em. Well, thanks to a local elementary school teacher, charting that plan of attack just got easier.

Katy Tierney, a 3rd Grade teacher at Estes Elementary School, has created an Owensboro Burger Week spreadsheet.

Katy says this ball started rolling the morning the 2023 Burger Week list was announced.  Katy's sister-in-law Holly sent her a message saying that her husband commented that he was "going to need a spreadsheet or something." Well, Katy is a self-proclaimed "super organized, spreadsheet-loving person" and, consequently, immediately dove into the project.

Katy says the whole family loves Burger Week and they really enjoy making a plan about where to eat and when. They also like rating the burgers after they eat them.  In fact, she says, "The ratings and comments are the most important part to us."

Upon completion of the spreadsheet, one of Katy's friends told her it was a "masterpiece." It was Katy's husband who then suggested selling it to other Burger Week fans.

Katy shared her creation on Facebook over the weekend. She wrote:

Alright Friends, I have created the ULTIMATE Burger Week spreadsheet. It started out for just my friends & I since we’re big burger week enthusiast but they told me it was fabulous and that I should offer it up to all.

And she is! Katy is offering PDF and DOC versions of her Burger Week spreadsheet for just $3.

That's three dollars my longtime friend Tina Matthis forked over in a flash. She got her copy and started combing through it and making notes.

Tina says, "I've already marked mine up!" And you can tell by the photo that she has.

Tina says she started with checking all the burgers that she knew she wanted to try. Then, she put stars on her MUST-have burgers.  As you see in the photo, Beef O'Brady's got a big green star.

Tina has looked over the list, checked it twice and is ready for Friday- the official start of 2023 Burger Week. She admits she's a little skeptical about this year's entries that feature pimento cheese, but says, "Windy Hollow had my heart at shrimp and grits!" That burger got a green star too.

My buddy Jason Bellamy, who is also Burger Week-obsessed, was Katy's very first customer. Last night, he got the spreadsheet, popped open the laptop and starting charting his course of carnivore action!

Thanks to the spreadsheet, Tina and Jason have formulated their plans and are ready to tackle (and digest) Burger Week. You can use it to get ready too.
