We know that our local nurses work hard and we want to celebrate them. That's why we partnered with Diamond Valley Federal Credit Union to salute our local nurses.

We asked you to tell us about the nurses in your life and your responses were phenomenal! We will be highlighting some of those entries here and on air and one lucky nurse will win an overnight stay at the French Lick Springs Resort.

Let's meet one of our nurses:

Samantha Whitacre

Samantha was nominated by her husband, Matthew. Samantha works at Deaconess Midtown in the cardiac & step down ICU. According to Matthew, Samantha has been working as a nurse for a little more than a year but he says her dedication is unmatched. Matthew writes,

"I would like to nominate my wife Samantha for her dedication and love to her family, friends and patients. While she has only been working as a nurse for about 15 months her career began the same way countless others have with a global pandemic. While this in mind, her hard work and dedication did not begin there. In 2019-2020 I was deployed to the Middle East for the Army. During this time, Samantha was acting practically as a single parent with our infant son. During this time, she graduated from
USI with her bachelors degree in Nursing. Soon thereafter she began her career right before the pandemic hit. During the pandemic not only does she continue to work her butt off for her patients, she also had gotten covid herself while being pregnant with our 2nd child. She is currently at the 7 monthish mark and every week is more and more a struggle for her but she still wakes up and goes to work and gives her patients the best possible care that she can. Tho her patients may not see it sometimes, I can say with absolute certainty that she cares deeply for each and every one of them. Fun side note, Sam gave away her entire stimulus check to go to people less fortunate and who could use the money more. All these reasons and much more are why I believe Samantha to be a fantastic nurse in need of even a little bit of recognition."

Samantha, thank you for all you do!

Samantha is now in the running, along with all the other nurses who were nominated, to win an overnight stay at the French Lick Springs Resort thanks to Diamond Valley Federal Credit Union. Today and every day we are grateful for the hardworking nurses in our community!

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
