New Dollar General Store Location Could Be Coming to Evansville’s North Side
I don't know if it's just me but it seems like you can't drive more than about ten to fifteen miles without seeing a big yellow sign emblazoned with black letters reading Dollar General.
Maybe I am being a bit dramatic but the fact is there are several Dollar General store locations all across the city of Evansville and we are about to have one more.
According to a recent post from our friends at Evansville 411 News on Facebook, Dollar General is proposing a new northside location. Where exactly would the new store be located? The intersection of East Boonville-New Harmony Road and Indiana SR 57.
The proposed building would encompass more than 10,000 square feet and would be located on the northwest corner of the intersection. The physical address of the property is 12100 SR 57. According to Evansville 411 News,
A new Dollar General store is in the works for Evansville's north side.
Dollar General is proposing to build a new store at the northwest corner of East Boonville-New Harmony Road and Indiana SR 57.
Location: 12100 SR 57
Building Size: 10,640 SF
Evansville 411 News does point out the checkered past that this particular property has had when it comes to commercial development. Back in 2017 Walmart had plans to build a new store at this same location but after a great deal of pushback from homeowners in the area, ultimately canceled their plans to build on the site.
At this time, there is no word on when we can expect to see that familiar yellow sign or when they might expect to open the doors for business as the store has only been proposed and has not yet been approved.
