Last night was most definitely a 103GBF Damn Loud Rock Show at KC's Time Out Lounge. I had a blast hanging out with old and new friends and listeners and listening to some amazing rock. I was super impressed by the first band of the night, and I want to share them with you.

One of the things I enjoy the most about hosting/MC'ing these shows is when I get the chance to meet and talk to young musicians. I've been doing this radio thing for 20 years now, and it's been exciting to see bands continue to gain success after meeting them when they were up and coming. I think of bands like Shinedown and Halestorm, who started out playing venues in Evansville like Marina Pointe and Woody's...now they are filling up venues like the Victory Theatre and the Ford Center. I think of a band like Pop Evil who continues to get more national attention. I'm proud of the fact that 103GBF, in some small part, can help with their success.

I started to kinda get that same feeling last night when I saw Through Fire play at KC's. This is a young band out of Omaha, Nebraska. They've only been together since 2015 and they just released their first album "Breathe" back in July. They have already seen a great response from fans on iTunes and on satellite radio. In fact, in a bar full of Nonpoint fans last night, there were a bunch of folks that were there just to see Through Fire.

Not only was I impressed by their music, which sounded amazing, but I was also impressed by they guys in the band. I first met their guitarist, Justin, and had him on the air with me. He stopped by our table several times throughout the night. The singer, Grant, walked by during another performance and gave me a fist bump. The bassist, Jesse, chatted with me for a bit before I introduced them to the crowd. They hung around after their set and met with every fan that wanted a pic or autograph. Then first thing this morning I get an email from Justin, thanking us again. It's small things like that that show me these guys get it. They are in it to win it. They are working hard onstage and off. They understand that it's about making connections and building relationships with rock stations and, more importantly, with fans. That type of stuff is what impresses me, and I wish nothing but the best for Through Fire.

I've rambled on enough. How about you just give this band a listen. Check out their single "Stronger" below. Show these guys some love online too...like their Facebook fan page, and visit their official website for more info.
