Now that I’ve hit the ripe age of 50, I’m more concerned than ever about taking care of myself. I schedule a complete physical with my Doc every 6 months just as preventative maintenance. Last week, during my physical, my Doc thought she heard evidence of what could be a heart murmur. Murmurs are extra heart sounds that are produced as a result of turbulent blood flow that is sufficient to produce audible noise. This prompted her to schedule a stress test at The Heart Group, which I performed yesterday. Seems instead of a murmur, I have a a leaky aortic valve. When that particular vavle of my heart closes, there is some leaking of blood. It may be a condition that I’ve had for a long time, but went undetected. It may also be affected due to the fact that I have high blood pressure. Apparently it’s something that will not cramp my very active lifestyle. I run and work out every day, and that’s a lifestyle that I would hate to have to scale back on. I have follow ups with my Doc planned.  At this point, I'm not worried, just concerned.  I’ll keep you posted.
