Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’ Used in ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ Trailer
Metallica's "Enter Sandman" is getting cinematic in the new multiplayer trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the soft reboot of Activision's long-running Call of Duty franchise expected Oct. 25.
Even if you don't play video games, the quick splicing of the song's memorable riffs with the first-person shooter's vivid gameplay could probably raise your blood pressure. For metalheads who are players, it's a match made in…well, you know. Sleep with one eye open and watch the trailer toward the bottom of this post.
At the Call of Duty site, the game's multiplayer action promises "grounded combat and fast-paced action. The most photo realistic environments in franchise history. Fan-favorite multiplayer modes and epic Killstreaks. Deep weapon customization. Best-in-class down the barrel gameplay. And a whole lot more."
"Enter Sandman," of course, hails from Metallica's classic 1991 self-titled Black Album. Guitarist Kirk Hammett wrote the memorable riff that opens that song. But he got the idea's inspiration thanks to Soundgarden.
Metallica are currently on the road with their "WorldWired Tour," backed by Ghost in Europe, before they head to Australia for some tour dates with Slipknot. Get Metallica ticketing info here.
