Marilyn Manson has canceled nine shows on his current tour after being injured when a stage prop fell on him in New York City Saturday (Sept. 30). The show was stopped when two giant pistols and their supporting frame toppled onto him, and he was later taken to a hospital. Details of his injuries have not been revealed.

A spokesperson said in a statement, “Marilyn Manson is being forced to cancel several of his October dates on his U.S. tour. The legendary performer suffered an injury on stage. He was treated at a local hospital and will be recuperating at home in Los Angeles. Manson hopes to return to the stage soon. More details on upcoming shows to follow.” Planned tour dates between Oct. 2 and Oct. 14 have been called off. His next scheduled show is at the Freaker’s Ball in Grand Prairie, Tex., on Oct. 15, with appearances booked until Dec. 9.

The incident took place about 45 minutes into his performance at the Hammersmith Ballroom in Manhattan, while he was singing “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).” As he crouched down on stage, a metal frame that held up two large model pistols collapsed on top of him. Crewmen rushed from both sides of the stage and lifted the prop, but Manson remained on the floor for several minutes after the concert was stopped.

Afterwards, his guitarist and keyboardist Tyler Bates said via Instagram: “The Heaven Upside Down tour is on pause for a minute. Heading home. Manson will be back in action soon. Heaven Upside Down is released October 6th, with an insane video to stoke the fire. See you soon!”
