From the new heavy metal logo to set photos of Aquaman rocking a guitar and Ben Affleck’s Batman showing off his midlife crisis sunglasses, I’ve been pretty certain that Justice League is actually the story of how a Cool Dad puts together a hard rock cover band of superheroes. Thanks to an interview accompanying a new still from Zack Snyder’s film, my beliefs are, once again, validated.

The new image debuted in Entertainment Weekly along with a feature in which Ezra Miller, who plays Barry Allen / The Flash, refers to Affleck’s Batman as “Dad.” He’s not like a regular dad Batman. He’s a cool dad Batman. Here’s the image:

And here’s that wonderful Ezra Miller, confirming everything I have long suspected about this particular Batman:

Uncle Fish Curry [Aquaman] is very grumpy. Dad [Batman] gets grumpy too. (He’s had a long life of fighting crime.) Wonder Woman is very considerate, so even though she’s annoyed with the Flash, she’s still very compassionate.

Miller describes his Barry Allen as the “Ringo Starr” of the Justice League, meaning “he annoys everybody, but he doesn’t have any specific beef with anyone.”

As for the image above, ComicBook.com says the scene in question sees the trio of heroes investigating a suspected Parademon nest in a Gotham ventilation tower (which is exactly the sort of chill place where Batman would low-key lurk on the weekends), based on a tip from Commissioner Gordon.

Justice League also features Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Here’s the official synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash -— it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League arrives on November 17, 2017.
