There was a hint earlier in the year, and now it looks like Josh Homme's long dormant Desert Sessions series will resume with "Volumes 11 and 12" expected to drop next month.

The New York Times revealed the details in their Fall Music Preview, targeting two volumes to arrive in October. For those unfamiliar, between 1997 and 2003, the Queens of the Stone Age frontman would invite select musicians to his studio in the California desert for a collective jam that would eventually result in a fresh release. These often included some of his musical pals like Jesse Hughes, Mark Lanegan, PJ Harvey, Brant Bjork, Twiggy Ramirez and others.

According to the Times report, the latest session, which took place in Joshua Tree, California late last year, found Homme working with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Primus' Les Claypool, Jack White drummer Carla Azar, Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, the Scissor Sisters signer Jake Shears and more. The two volumes will reportedly consist of eight songs in total and will be released via Matador Records.

This will mark the first new Desert Sessions offerings in 16 years. Homme has teased the possibility of more Desert Sessions music in the past, but also admitted that it usually comes during a window between December and January when much of the touring for the year shuts down and if he misses that window, the opportunity doesn't come around for another year.
