I'll be honest, I always forget about the TGI Fridays location at Eastland Mall. There are only six TGI Fridays restaurants in the state of Indiana, but that number is in the verge of going down.

In a move to streamline operations, TGI Fridays has recently closed 49 locations across the U.S., according to a recent report by CNN. This comes as part of the brand’s strategy to refine its presence in key markets, following the January closure of 36 other underperforming restaurants.

Why is TGI Fridays Closing Restaurants?

TGI Fridays, a staple in American dining, is evolving its business model to focus on franchise growth and profitability. In January, the company closed 36 restaurants in select markets, and this week's additional closures show a continued commitment to refining its brand. Ray Risley, U.S. President and COO of TGI Fridays, shared insight on the closures, saying, “Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest… We’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise.” This shift is part of a larger plan to drive long-term growth and focus on high-performing locations.
