Every week we hear about another national restaurant chain closing locations that are underperforming. Fortunately, Evansville, Indiana residents are known for loving to eat. So far, many of our chain restaurants have not closed, and that's a great thing for jobs.

Denny's, Wendy's, and Red Lobster

Three of those national chains that have announced closures are Denny's, Wendy's, and Red Lobster. Not only is Evansville not losing Wendy's locations, but our area is also getting store upgrades.

Red Robin Announces Closings

In the spirit of full transparency, I have only eaten at Red Robin two times in my whole life. Once was when I was very pregnant and craving cheeseburgers, I tried one and in the very center, I bit into an ONION! That was a hard pass for me. The second time I think I ordered something less likely to have touched an onion - from the kid's menu.

70 Locations Could Close

The fine print here is that Red Robin announced that it could close 70 locations over a five-year period of time. We can expect 10-15 restaurants to close in 2025, and those have already begun. So far, these locations have not been in Indiana. Officials with Red Robin plan to add some new menu items and refresh things a bit so the revenue will increase.

Fast-Food Fries - Ranked Healthiest to Unhealthiest

The best side dish for a burger is NOT coleslaw. If someone tells you that, walk away and go find a place that is serving up french fries.

"Healthy" and "French Fries" don't typically go together. It is common knowledge that although a fry is from a potato, it doesn't make it as healthy as a green, leafy salad.

If you are still reaching for a fry and now you are curious how "healthy" it really is, Cheapism did the research for you and ranked over 20 fast-food chains' fries from the healthiest to unhealthiest.
