September 17, 1984, was a pretty special day for me. Not only was it one day after my 9th birthday, but it was also the day that I (and the rest of the world) was introduced to one of the coolest shows ever - TRANSFORMERS.

Not to be too hyperbolic here, but TRANSFORMERS absolutely changed my childhood. My world was consumed by the battle between the Autobots, led by the brave and noble Optimus Prime, and the Decepticons and their evil leader, Megatron. And the obsession didn't stop with the animated TV show - you know I had to have those toys, too.

20 years later, in 2007, the first live-action TRANSFORMERS movie was released, rekindling the spark that once shined so brightly in my young heart. Megan Fox might have had something to do with my increased heart rate, too. But after seeing the movie, seeing those robots in disguise come to life on the big screen, it made me wish more than ever that I could have my own Transformer some day.

I guess the folks at Metal Source had the same wish, because they have created a "real life" Transformers collection that will make any fan jealous. The aluminum-producing and scrap metal recycling company is located in Wabash, IN, with several other locations around the Hoosier state. At each of those locations, Metal Source shows off a different Transformer character made completely out of scrap metal.

And these aren't some little "matchbox" versions either. These Transformers are huge - probably as close to the "real" size as possible. Seeing their size makes the creations even more impressive. And the really cool news is that you don't have to travel to Cyberton to find them. You can see these Transformers up close and personal at the Metal Source locations listed below.
