According to the folks at Thrillist, who released a list of the Most Beautiful Highway in Each State, the most scenic trip you can take in Indiana is on the Barn Quilt Trail.

So, what makes this area so special? Here's what Thrillest has to say...

Along this route, which is a little more like a region, touching six different small towns all specializing in the cozy art of quiltmaking, you’ll run into a number of spots selling colorful homemade blankets, fresh farm goods, and more.

Like the name suggests, barns, silos, and historic buildings along the trail, located in Shipshewana, Indiana, are adorned with are giant, hand-painted quilt squares - each one unique, each one telling a story.

The quilts are more than just Instagram material - they also honor the craftsmanship and creativity that have been passed down through generations of Hoosier families. So, whether you’re a history buff, an art lover, or just someone who loves a peaceful Sunday drive, you'll certainly be able to appreciate all the Barn Quilt Trail has to offer.
