Evansville is Home to 5 Grocery Chains with The Highest Quality Meat Departments
It is safe to say that grilling season is here. Whether you are team charcoal or team propane, the biggest decision you have to make is where to buy the best meat.
Quality and Quantity
There are many factors to consider when you are going to buy meat for your family. A high-quality cut of beef or pork isn't usually going to be the most affordable. If you are looking for steaks, you don't want to buy the use by today meat or take out a loan, right?
Here's What the Experts Say About Meat Departments
Recently, I came across a poll from Chowhound.com, and I discovered that Evansville is home to 5 of the top grocery chains with the highest-quality meat departments. Now, you can make your own educated shopping decisions.
Costco: Bulk Meat, Top Quality
It’s no secret that Costco is a go-to spot for amazing deals, but did you know their meat department is seriously next level? Costco offers restaurant-quality steaks, chicken, and more. I'm not a fan of freezing meat, so you might find it wasteful if you don't use it all at once. But, if you’re hosting a cookout or just love having top-notch meat ready to go, Costco’s meat section is a game-changer.

The Fresh Market: Premium Cuts for Special Meals
When you want a hand-trimmed steak or a gourmet-style roast, The Fresh Market in Evansville is your spot. According to the poll, The Fresh Market stands out for offering "butcher shop" quality with that personal touch. I know that I've stalked the meat counter for $2.99 on Tuesdays more times than I can count.

Aldi: Affordable and Impressive
I had no idea that Aldi would make the list for their surprisingly high-quality meats.
The folks at Chowhound love how Aldi offers fresh cuts at prices that are perfect for families. Their "Never Any!" line of meat (no antibiotics, no added hormones) is a huge win, especially if you’re picky about what goes on your plate and in your tummy.
Sam’s Club: Great for Big Grill Plans
Sam’s Club is another bulk-shopping favorite in Evansville, and its meat section is full of great value, generous portions, and solid quality. We haven't really mentioned fish, but I can usually find a nice piece of salmon that doesn't cost a fortune or taste too fishy.

Walmart: Easy, Reliable, and Fresh
Walmart might be the most convenient option, but according to the Chowhound poll, it's also a great choice for fresh, reliable meat. Their expanded meat departments, especially at the Supercenters, offer everyday ground beef to better-quality steaks and pork. Plus, I have found Guy Fieri's sauces, and that makes every cut of meat better!
