From Silent to Studio: A Creative Comeback at C.K. Newsome
Something Big Is Happening at the C.K. Newsome Center
It is nice to see a vacant building be opening again with new life. Young and Established in Evansville is proud to finally say this out loud — they’re taking over the studio room at the C.K. Newsome Center.
For the past four years, that studio space has been sitting unused. Quiet. Locked up. Full of potential. And now? It’s about to come back to life in a big way.
From Empty Room to Creative Hub
Young and Established is transforming that space into a hands-on creative studio where young people can record music, launch podcasts, and explore the world of media production.
Think about that for a second.
Instead of just talking about dreams of being an artist, producer, radio host, or content creator — they’ll actually get to do it. They’ll learn how to work the equipment, develop their voice, tell stories, and bring ideas to life in a real studio setting.
As someone who lives in a studio every day, I can tell you — there’s something powerful about being behind a mic for the first time and realizing your voice matters.
Starting with Young & Established and Carver Students
Young & Established is kicking this off with students from Carver. These are bright, creative, driven young people who just need opportunity and access. This isn’t just about recording tracks or podcasts. It’s about confidence. It’s about skill-building. It’s about showing students that media and creative careers are not some far-off dream they’re right here.
This Is Just the Beginning
Spaces like this can change lives (I know it did for me.) A studio can be more than a room with microphones and soundboards — it can be a launchpad.
After four quiet years, that studio at C.K. Newsome is about to be filled with music, ideas, laughter, and big dreams again. And I truly cannot wait to see what these young creators produce.
This is going to be special.
