Indiana is Home to One of America’s Best Cities for Scouring Garage Sales

If you’re a fan of hunting for hidden treasures, garage sales are your perfect playground! With the thrill of finding a deal, it’s no wonder that garage sales remain a favorite weekend activity. But not all cities are created equal when it comes to scoring those one-of-a-kind items.

LawnLove recently published a list that ranks 2024's best cities for scouring garage sales. Whether you’re on the lookout for unique vintage finds or unbeatable bargains, knowing the best places to look can be invaluable information. Spoiler - one of the county's very best garage sale cities is here in Indiana!

The rankings were determined by comparing the 500 biggest U.S. cities based on the following categories and a total of 10 different metrics.

• Yard Sale Access: includes the number of yard and garage sales and estate sales.
• Climate: includes the number of cold days vs. warm days
• Interest: based on Google searches
• Selling Space: includes yard size and percentage of homes with garages.

Okay, I'll admit that "Mecca" might be a bit of an overstatement. But, would you be surprised to hear that out of 500 cities, Indiana's state capital, INDIANAPOLIS, is ranked as the 8th best for garage sales? Naptown scored really well in two of the four categories, ranking 13th in Yard Sale Access, and 16th in Interest. Indy's score took a hit thanks to a 151st rank in Selling Space, and a 421st Climate ranking.

• #41 - Evansville
• #77 - Carmel
• #98 - Bloomington
• #105 - South Bend
• #243 - Fishers
• #375 - Hammond
