If you struggle with dysgraphia, understandably, correct grammar and punctuation won't come easily. It can be hard to get your message across without being misunderstood. I was fortunate to grow up during a time when writing and reading were a big part of education. Many schools have removed handwriting instruction over the last decade. Cursive is all but obsolete. Because of the increasing use of technology, many think handwriting is a thing of the past. I couldn't disagree more! Especially if you're looking for a job. It can make or break a first impression of your resume. Good grammar is essential in the workplace. Whether you're emailing, texting, or tweeting, most jobs require strong communication skills. I'm not perfect, but I strive to be a better writer. Luckily, there are tools to help.

In a new study from Preply, Kentucky ranks among the worst in grammar and punctuation.

In this study, we quizzed Americans’ overall grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills. We then found the average state score and scaled the scores from 0-100.

Coming out on top, the only states to receive an A on the quiz were California (92.1), Connecticut (91.3), and Georgia (90.5). A majority of states received a B on the quiz, with only one state — Virginia (79.8) — receiving a C.

Americans particularly struggled to understand when to use “me” or “I.” For example, the majority of respondents selected “me” instead of “I” in the following sentence: “The baker told Kim and __ to come back around noon.”
