High school graduation time is always a mixed bag of emotions. Of course, everyone is excited about the opportunities that await graduates, either as they leave for college or pursue a trade. At the same time, as a parent, especially, there is a bittersweet feeling as your child flies from the nest.

Milestone Moments

My son, Rollins, just finished his last year of elementary school and is headed to middle school in the fall. I'm not gonna lie, I am feeling a little verklempt over it. He's growing up and getting taller, and while I know those are good things, I can't help but think of what a mess I will be for future milestones.

McCallie School 2025 Graduation

I saw the smartest, most heartfelt video on TikTok the other day that just about made me boohoo. A boarding school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, posted interviews of graduates answering questions asked by their former 6th-grade selves from 2018. Grab a Kleenex for this one. Trust me, it's worth it.

Interviews With Their Childhood Selves

No time machine involved, just careful and creative planning from whoever their teachers were at the time. The sixth-grade versions of the five boys check in to see if their favorite sports and movies are still the same. They also ask for life advice. The answer? Be kind to everyone you meet and work hard for what you want in life.

@wearemccallie In 2018 we interviewed McCallie 6th graders. Now it's time for these same McCallie seniors to answer their childhood questions. What really got me was when the boys asked themselves where they're going to college. One of the 6th graders would be VERY happy with the answer. They all seem like the sweetest young men. I just want to know if anyone has checked on their mothers. Because if they've made the entire internet cry like this? Shew wee! I'd be a mess!
