There are a lot of hamburger joints across the U.S. that have random (and weird) claims to fame. For example, two restaurants in Memphis come to mind.

THE HISTORY OF HUEY'S IN MEMPHIS

First, there's Huey's.

Each Huey's location has a crutch in the ceiling. That tradition goes all the way back to 1988. That's when the restaurant's owner, Thomas Boggs, got a crutch from a friend and used it to fill a hole in the ceiling at the Midtown location. Now, every single Huey's location has its own crutch. Plus, each one has its own graffiti wall too.

THE HISTORY OF DYER'S IN MEMPHIS

Dyer's, on Beale Street in Memphis, has a tradition of its own. According to local folklore, the burger joint has never, in over a century, changed the grease used to deep-fry its food.

I visit Memphis at least once a year and try to visit both restaurants when I go. They're both delicious and eating at them is an adventure.

Instead of going west for my next 'burger' adventure, I may have to travel east. There's a restaurant in Greenville, Ohio that also has a very unique tradition. Well, two of them really.

Okay, that looks exceptionally good.

Maid-Rite, which opened way back in 1934, is also home to The Gum-Wall. You read that correctly. There's a wall at the restaurant that people stick their chewed gum to. That wall is now fascinating, kinda gross, but totally legendary.

In fact, Meghan Mizell, who lives in Owensboro, Kentucky, recently made the 4-and-a-half hour trek to Greenville to experience the restaurant (and The Gum-Wall) for herself.

For the record, even the folks at Made-Rite aren't quite sure why chewing gum tradition started. The Maid-Rite website says, "We don’t really know why the gum started but it’s here to stay."

So, are the customers! Maid-Rite has become one of the most popular restaurants in Ohio. Another big reason why? Those prices!

The Made-Rite Sandwich is only $3.35. If you decide to get the Cheese-Rite, it's just $3.80- just 45 cents more.
