Owensboro’s New Jolie Carré Café Offers World-Inspired Gourmet Chocolates
Former New Yorker (or maybe you're always a New Yorker at heart) Cynthia Jolly has been exciting Owensboro's taste buds ever since she opened Boujie Biscuit in the fall of 2023. But chefs are forever expanding their passions and breadth of knowledge. For that reason (among others), we now have Jolie Carré World Café in downtown Owensboro.
Jolie Carré World Café
A nod to her last name, Jolie Carré (which is French for "pretty square") offers up just that...pretty squares of amazing, gourmet chocolates inspired by flavors from around the world like Greece, Brazil, Japan, India, Persia, Germany, Dubai and the Czech Republic, where Cynthia once lived.
There are also nods to the northern U.S., the southern U.S., and, specifically, good old Kentucky. If you forget what you have, a chocolate passport will be your reminder.
Jolie Carré World Café Proprietor Cynthia Jolly
A self-made chocolatier, Jolly has wanted to experiment with chocolate since her time owning a restaurant in Indianapolis, even during the period when she was creating delicious gourmet biscuits.
The Unique Flavors at Jolie Carré World Café
Never afraid to mix unconventional flavors, Cynthia's chocolates combine French vanilla cake with pistachios, edible rose petals, cream cheese ganache, and white chocolate; shredded carrots with pistachios, cardamom, and dark chocolate; Spanish-influence orange custard with dark chocolate and caramel; and a dark chocolate morsel infused with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, bay leaves, and something called Trinidadian scorpion peppers.
Those are just a few of the unique varieties.
While Cynthia has traveled all over Europe, her concepts for creating chocolates were inspired by what she experienced living in New York City. And now she's brought that knowledge to Owensboro. If you've been a fan of Boujie Biscuit, not to worry. It's not going anywhere. And now it has a world-class chocolate companion.
