Intentionally Funny Map Made Me Realize a Truth About Fall in Kentucky
If it's even remotely in context, I will profess my love for autumn in this space. It's the best time of the year, and, right now, I am in full anticipation mode. Fortunately, I'm not alone in my love of fall. (Also, as a writer, it's great that it's the only season with two names.)
Facebook Meteorologists
I'm not sure what happened, but 2025 saw the explosion of meteorologists in my Facebook feed. I follow all the Evansville Eyewitness News meteorologists, but I get posts from forecasters all over the country. Maybe it's because this has been a crazy weather year. If Facebook can send stuff into my feed that I only spoke about or merely thought about, I can't be surprised if it reacts, in a similar fashion, because of the weather.
Fall Outlook
Many of these meteorologists of which I speak mix in humorous posts with their serious weather prognostications, and we're all better for it. WTHR-Indianapolis meteorologist Matt Standridge is a good example. While his posts indicate he's a great lover of fall, he has also posted a meme that's funny but features a truth about Kentucky I guess I hadn't realized. (Standridge did post this, but it was not embeddable...come on, Matt.)
Fall in Kentucky
We're all out dodging deer when their wanderlust amps up during the autumn, but I had forgotten that falling leaves are also a road hazard. Sometimes I think wet leaves make a road more hazardous than snow. I think I have more traction after a snowfall.
I'd also like to address a couple of those other regions. Yes, the Appalachians can be foggy, but they are a breathtaking sight in the fall. As for the South, yeah, fall is nice. If we could share, we would.
