Growing up, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t make the honor roll—except for one. Chemistry was my Achilles’ heel. I had an old-school teacher who wasn’t exactly engaging, and I struggled to understand most of what he was saying. Despite being a good student, I spent countless evenings and early mornings in tutoring sessions because math and chemistry were just so tough for me. My brain just doesn’t grasp math beyond statistics and geometry, and even those were a challenge. But I pushed through and ended up with just one C in my entire high school career. Thankfully, I didn't have to take Chemistry in college and chose a major that required no STEM at all! And, here we are...

The YMCA’s program is open to all students, whether or not they’re members. Students are paired with Signature School students for two-week sessions at Ascension St. Vincent YMCA or the Dunigan Family YMCA.

If you are not familiar with Sig School, it's located here in Downtown Evansville and is considered one of the top schools in the country. All Signature School students are expected to complete a minimum number of community service hours.

You do have to register to hold a spot.
