The History of Valentine’s Day Is… Complicated
So, I was going to put a paragraph about the origins of Valentine's Day, but after reading an article on History.com, I learned that the history of Valentine's Day is “shrouded in mystery.” Then I spent the next 15 minutes reading all about the three saints named Valentine who were martyred in the third century A.D., the pagan celebration of Lupercalia, and even its ties to bird mating season. Fun fact, it's also skunk and coyote mating season.
If you are really wanting to go down the rabbit hole of the history of Valentine's Day, just go here and read all about it.
