Tom Hanks Fan? The Indiana House Where He Stayed During ‘A League of Their Own’ Filming Could Be Yours
If you’re from Evansville, you probably know that our big claim to fame is the cult classic A League of Their Own, which was filmed here back in the ’90s. During the summer of 1991, stars like Geena Davis, Madonna, and Tom Hanks were all around town, shooting scenes at historic Bosse Field and other local spots. Some of them had a great time, others, well not so much.
Madonna wasn’t exactly thrilled with small-town life. She was pretty vocal about her discomfort, even mentioning how out of touch she felt and her frustration at not being able to watch MTV.
But Tom Hanks had a very different perspective. Not only did he wish our beloved Bosse Field a happy birthday when she turned 100 and tweeted that Evansville was a "little patch of heaven," but he said in an interview that the summer he spent in Evansville with his family was one of the most cherished times in his life.
In the interview, Tom Hanks even mentioned the house where he stayed while filming. Well, that very house is now on the market! Listed by Dauby Real Estate, this northside gem offers five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It sits on five acres and includes a pool, a private stocked lake, a dog washing station, a butler's pantry, and even a huge pole barn ready for livestock and horses. I actually stumbled upon the listing because I’ve been on the hunt for an equestrian property since we currently board our horse. At $1,200,000, though, it’s a bit out of my budget. Still, it’s definitely worth that price! Having a house with a pool, an outdoor entertainment area, and a cool backstory would be a dream come true.
