This morning, I was poking around on Facebook and I saw a post from a humane society that I follow that made me tear up a little.

The Ending of a Perfect Dog Movie

Indy Humane in Indianapolis posted a story this morning about a gentleman who came in and asked for the underdog. The rest seems like the final scene in a sentimental dog movie.

I Need to Meet the Underdog

A gentleman named Dan came in this week and told the staff that he had recently lost his doggie. He felt like his heart and home were incomplete, and he came to the shelter to find a new best friend. The gentleman explained that he had always been picked last on the playground and those memories and feelings had stuck with him. Being a bit of an underdog himself, he wanted to see dogs that had been overlooked during their time at the shelter.

Meet Peg Leg Pete

The staff at Indy Humane brought Peg Leg Pete to meet him. Pete had a hurt leg and needs long-term care. Because of his special needs, he had long been overlooked. He's been at the shelter for 215 days.

When the two met, they immediately hit it off. The post said, "It just felt right. The connection was instant. With a few treats and some chin scratches, Pete was SOLD—and so was his new dad."

Yep, hold on there. You have something in your eye... I do too..

Then, to make things even better, the staff got to tell the gentleman that Pete's adoption fee was fully sponsored by 317 Plumber since Pete was part of their 100 day club!

What a great ending!
