A list of the greatest pizzas in the world just came out, and only two cities in America made the list.

If this tells you anything, it should say pizza is one of the most universally loved foods on the planet, and maybe the best pizza is made outside the U.S.

I say "maybe" because I am pretty sure the best pizza is in America, and the best pizza state is Illinois.

Countries like Italy, Japan, Scotland, Argentina, Spain, Australia, South Africa, France, and Denmark have pizza places on Timeout's Best Pizzas in the World list. As a prolific pizza eater, this list is almost like a worldwide bucket list of places I need to go before I die and try a slice.

Until that happens, I guess I can just head to Milly's Pizza in the Pan in Chicago, since it was also named one of the best in the world.

In a city brimming with legendary pizzerias, it takes a lot to stand out. Yet owner Robert Maleski achieved this remarkable feat by launching Milly’s during the pandemic, elevating a timeless recipe. The dough is baked with a ring of mozzarella around it, which produces a striking, caramelised crust.

Located at 925 North Ashland Avenue on Chicago's north side, Yelp reviewers agree, giving the place a solid 4.6 out of 5, and those who have eaten at Milly's all say the same thing: getting a pizza from this place is really difficult.
