Illinois’ Favorite Ice Cream ‘Tastes Like Froot Loops’
It's that time of year when you finally say it's "OK" to eat ice cream.
That "OK" is the out-loud "OK." Your inner "OK" says, "Let's eat ice cream" anytime.
Anyway, Frozen Desserts Supplies posted each state's favorite ice cream flavors and said:
Have you ever wondered what each state's most popular ice cream is? The answers may surprise you!
I was a bit more than surprised.
Did you know Illinois ranks 20th in ice cream enjoying, and ZIppia says the "average American consumes 20 pounds of ice cream per year?"
Ice cream production is a $700 million-plus industry employing 1000 people in Illinois.
That's all to say: we care about ice cream. If that's true, why is our favorite flavor something I wouldn't try in one million years?
Scrolling through the list of each state's favorite ice cream, I saw plenty of recognizable and tasty choices, such as Peach, Vanilla, Bubble gum, and Buttered pecan.
All of those I'd pick before Illinois' choice, Blue Moon. Please save me.
Frozen Desserts Supplies says, "If you're not from the Midwest, you might not know this flavor. It's bright blue, and it tastes like Froot Loops. This ice cream is a classic Midwestern staple."
Chocolate, Cookie Dough, and Strawberry were the flavors called out just below Illinois' overwhelmingly sweet choice for favorite ice cream.
If I wanted ice cream to taste like a bowl of cereal, I'd opt for something with some vanilla, chocolate, and/or cinnamon, not Froot Loops.
OK, rant over. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
