It's that time of year again when one tri-state museum transforms its grounds into an authentic early 20th-century experience. It's a fantastic event, and one that the whole family will enjoy. "The Great War at IMM," as it's known, tells the story of World War I in a very personal and hyper-real way, thanks to experienced re-enactors who are always happy to chat about their passion.
The Great War at IMM
The U.S. entered World War I in 1917 on the side of the Allies. According to History.com, 2 million U.S. troops served on the Western Front in Europe, and more than 50,000 died in battle before the fighting ended in November 1918. While U.S. involvement was brief, it is an important part of history worth remembering—one that IMM honors two days each year.
The Great War at IMM will be held on Saturday, April 5, and the following Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST). All outdoor events will be free and open to the public, but regular admission prices will apply for the museum and annex. Parking is free on-site, but, as always, the museum says donations are greatly appreciated.

What to Expect at IMM
The two-day festivities will include authentic living history displays, military vendors, and food vendors. Additionally, weather permitting, historical aircraft are set for various flyover displays. Battle reenactment schedules have yet to be released, but you can stay up to date on important information from IMM by following their Facebook page or visiting their website.
