Wesselman Woods is a total gem located in the heart of Evansville. Wesselman Woods works hard to be a place where people can go to learn and experience nature. They host many events all year round and work hard to connect our community to nature.

WESSELMAN WOODS provides environmental education and outdoor recreation experiences designed to awaken the senses and enrich the lives of area residents and visitors. The mission of Wesselman Nature Society is to preserve and protect Wesselman Woods and Howell Wetlands for future generations through conservation, education, research, and to provide equal access to nature.

Wesselman Woods is home to a nature center, more than 4 miles of nature trails, and a nature playscape that's perfect for kids. Once a month you can enjoy Wesselman Woods for free thanks to their monthly free days.

Wesselman Woods Hosting Free Days Once a Month

On the last Saturday of every month, you can connect with nature and enjoy Wesselman Woods for free for their free days in 2024. The first one is happening on January 27th, and they're even adding a new event, free yoga on free Saturdays!

Continuing our newest tradition, Wesselman Woods will be open for free the last Saturday of each month in 2024.
Visit us and enjoy over 4 miles of trails, the 5-acre Welborn Baptist Foundation Nature Playscape, the Arwood Family Treehouse (coming soon!), and the Bernhardt Family Bird Sanctuary.
NEW for 2024: FREE YOGA SESSIONS AT FREE SATURDAYS!
Brought to us by Velocity Fitness. Enjoy a 45-minute session of yoga for free each Family Free Day beginning at 11 AM.
Also new this year, Wesselman Woods will host our "Nature's Greatest Sight" eclipse festival partners at the Nature Center for special multicultural community days!
First up: Marshallese Community Day in partnership with Indiana Evansville Marshallese Community, Inc. and Enos Junior Tibnol. Our friends at the EVPL will also be in attendance with eclipse-themed activities.
